Are there any products that people use to seal the vamps of their reeds other than just running their finger over it to seal the pores. I have experimented with natural skin oils and wax. Are there other things that people use to seal the vamp?

Sometimes i used the back side of sand paper (which is smooth) and that seems to do the trick.

The face excretes suitable natural oils, especially around the bridge of the nose and under the eyes. Try swiping your index finger in these spots and seal your reeds that way. It also works very well slicking-up keys if your hands are sweaty. <:-)

Thats a good question, wht is a vamp? For that matter why do you seal pores, I mean I'm aware that there are pores on reeds but does sealing them change the way they play?

Sealing the pores prevents the moisture from filling the tubes and causing it to become waterlogged. This gives the reed more resistance and it will perform longer.
