OK... I guess this is bragging a little, but my daughter was at the Michigan State Band/Orchestra Assn. State competitions for solo & ensemble this past weekend. It was her first time with "proficiency testing," where she gets a numeric score based 50% on the solo, 25% on scales and 25% on sight reading. In any case, she scored a perfect 100. The room steward seemed very impressed, and the guy at the awards table said she was the first 100 of the day. This was fairly far into the day, too.
Is this all that rare? We never had this stuff back in Ohio when I grew up... you just got your rating of 1-5, and that was it.

Not horribly rare, but excellent nonetheless! Congrats parent to parent!

The best thing about getting a 100 of any proficiency is you automatically get put in the Michigan Youth Arts Festival Honors Orchestra, which is amazing (this happened to me sophomore year) there really aren't that many 100s these days, I'm a little jealous (looking at my measley 97, proficiency III, and now praying i'll still get into orchestra) so she must be good.

Stamitz #3, first movement.
We got the listing today, and she is indeed selected for the orchestra.
Thanks for the encouraging comments.
