Hi all,
Just wondering how to achieve the amazing tone/sound that proffesionals in orchestras, and recording artists achieve. Could you please share any thoughts with me?
My tone is satisfactory, but ideally I would like to have a really nice sound.

Biggest factor in a good tone IMO is breath support. Yeah, you have to have a good reed, and a good mouthpiece, but whenever I switch mouthpieces (which in my life to date is pretty damned often!) I can get almost any mouthpiece to sound "like me" with good breath support.

I think sfalexi is on to something there!
When my support fails, my tone sucks, notes don't speak, and the instrument goes out of tune, and the pitch wavers.

If there is a professional player with a sound you really like within driving distance of you, contact him/her and ask for lessons.

To get that "proffesional sound" you need a combination of things ...
the correct embouchure
always good posture
correct breathing and air support
and its not a requirement but good equipment helps
through the combination of those, good tone should come easily. good luck!

I know people always say to find a good teacher. But experience is hind-sight and you really don't know what you don't know - even if everyone explains the nuts out of it.
Getting a good pro to help with your embouchure and air support would be the quickest way of achieving it. Don't expect it in just one lesson either. it takes practice and time. And they always check the equipment to make sure it's in proper working condition .. so everyone above is right in my opinion

Its nice that you are interested in having an Incredible sound. But the way to get this sound is by beeing an Incredible musician and that much more complicated...

Hmm Chris I've had teacher with incredible sound and he's the best player that have ever taught me but for me he was the least good teacher out of the 4 teacher I had.

Another thing to consider is the fact that your sound is different from your perspective compared to a listener's perspective. Use of a recording device can help you separate how others hear you versus how you hear yourself while playing. All the other previous advice is excellent as well.
