There was a Kasper listed on ebay. i started the bidding at $5.00. it just closed---would you believe -----$535. Wouldn't you like to have ten of them!!!!!!!!

Only if I could use them. Out of 3 Kaspars my teacher has, only one works with my setup & embouchure.
But the one <b>does</b> work well!

if I had ten i didn't plan on keeping them. i wanted to fine 10 more people willing to spend 535 for a mp.
My wife thinks i spend money. If see only knew.

The original Frank Kaspar mouthpieces, if found in excellent condition and if found to be one of the better ones, command exhorbitant market prices. These mouthpieces have a reputation of excellence. The other thing that drives up the price is the fact that Mr. Kaspar passed away years ago, so the available stock of original Kaspar mouthpieces is near zero.
So, there you have it. The law of price and demand working at its best (or worst, depending how you look at it).

I would never risk so much on a mouthpiece when I could not work with the maker to get something that I liked.

That's why you find someone with several Kaspars and pick one that works. Or by a Kaspar and have someone else reface it. As long as they don't touch the inside of the mouthpiece.
