I played a duet by him last year. It was a difficult piece, and much of his music is kinda difficult, but I like it. I dont kno much about him tho.

Hey!
I just ordered his first book of cl. studies, and I have a really dumb semi-related question...

How do you pronounce Kroepsch?!?!

Thanks for the help in advance!

I don't know much about Kroepsch himself, but I do know a little about his books of 1-2 line impossible etudes. Kroepsch wrote these little studies for the clarinet to heighten one's technique while also including a bit of dynamics. As I'm sure you can see, many of the etudes are quite difficult. A method of learning them I picked up from my teacher is to start slow(I suppose that's good with anything). What I like to do is the first time through give the 16th note the beat, and then the 8th note, and then up to normal tempo. Also, depending on triplets and such, you might give each group of 2 16th triplets the beat. I found that by doing this you can slowly work up your technique, but you can also concentrate more on dynamics when moving slower. I like to play them with huge dynamic changes. My technique after doing these for a year now has definitely skyrocketed. I think they're good for anyone with a little bit of experience.

As for the pronunciation, most people I think pronounce it "krepsh". Although this isn't perfect, it's pretty close.
