Weber Concerto #2

Is it just me or is is the Weber Concerto #2 quite a bit more difficult than #1? Btw, anyone know the RCM level for #2? It's either 10 or ARCT, but don't really know....

The newest (2006) edition of the RCM syllabus puts both Weber #1 and # 2 on the ARCT list A, alongside the Copland Concerto, the Crusell Concerto and the Mozart Concerto in A major.

FYI - List B for the ARCT includes two Brahms Sonatas, in Eb major and in F minor. Also the Castelnuevo-Tedesco Sonata, Debussy´s Premiére Rapsodie, and the Hindemith Sonata. Then there´s List C of 20th and 21st century works.

Intersting... the Hindemith is not at all Technically challenging tho. Atleast much more of an Musical challenge than it is as a technical challenge.

btw, the RCM syllabus has to be Ordered, correct?

I picked up my copy from the Long & McQuade music store in Burlington, ON. Most music stores around here have it in stock, especially since it´s a new edition.

This edition is now a woodwind syllabus including flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon in one book. I didn´t like lugging around the entire book so it´s been dissected. The other four instrument pages are sitting on the shelf in a rubber bank and the clarinet section along with the technical requirements at the back of the book have been wire bound at the printers. It´s now down to about the thickness of the old clarinet syllabus.

I definitely agree that the second Weber is more difficult than the first. Either that or I'm just a better musician than I was when I played the first and now see that there's much more work to be done!
