Anyone every peformed this reduction? I'm going to be preparing/performing the piece this coming week and would like to know what to expect as I don't have the music yet.

Search the archives for this board and the especially the Klarinet list, where the topic has been extensively discussed.
Bring a soft reed. You'll be playing almost constantly.

It's great fun and a real workout.
Not only do you get to play all the clarinet parts of the Symphony, but you'll also be playing violin parts on clarinet. Get ready to hyperventilate.
The second movement is the best - great clarinet/bassoon interaction.
I hope you have a good edition. The Schottstaedt edition is very well produced.

Indeed. It definitely requires stamina and then some.
I dug up a version in the late '80's which was (IIRC) the original edition, from the Eastman library (Inter-Library Loan) and we used it to perform 2 movements at some point during my senior year at Oberlin (89-90). We couldn't manage the whole thing due to rehearsal time limitations.

Thanks all. This piece is on the repetoire list for the Kammer Musik Workshop I'll be attending next week in Santa Fe. I'll be sure to bring an extra soft reed.
Regards,
Brian
