After teaching my self for six months; how to read music and playing every day i found a instructor in Ukiah. he ask me to play something and then he said "do you ever count" I said NO. he said let start there. one, two , three up, four up. So now it back to book #1. ONE, Two up, Three up, and four. It's a good thing I didn't have to count to five or I would have been in trouble.
Back to square one.

Yeah, lessons usually start with unlearning all the bad habits we devolop on our own. Enjoy!

Hey, at least you got one measure out before your tutor stopped you. I didn't even get the first note out on my first lesson. Whenever I missed a note, he stopped me immediately and corrected it, then had me play the phrase again.

Remember, patience is a two way street, both for you and for your instructor. Hang in there and genuinely watch and listen to everything you can. I am still amazed at the things I remember from my 2 or so years worth of lessons from a master professional. I paid a lot of money for these lessons, but I learned a lot of good stuff. I believe that the lessons made me appreciate music and the clarinet even more.
