There's a great, fairly new site for violinists, http://www.violinist.com/. It's almost as good as Mark's masterpiece here and got an enthusiastic writeup in the Christian Science Monitor, http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0124/p16s01-cogn.html.
It has three good ideas that might be added here:
-- a list of categories (CD reviews, concert reviews, practicing, etc.) to pull out particular topics from the general list
-- blog links
-- and especially, T-SHIRTS! Woodwind.org t-shirts with the crown logo would be great. Mark -- any chance?

Thanks for the link--I'll tell my violin-playing husband about this site. I have mixed feelings about categories, btw. The "Sax on the Web" site uses categories that I find difficult and time-consuming to navigate. I like the arrangement here, where the topics with the most recent posts land on top where they're easy to spot.

Especially for use at ClarinetFest this year! (Too bad about all the storms Vancouver´s had that took out many of the huge trees in the Pacific rain forest. We´ve seen some of the footage on CBC news. The city of Vancouver will do all that´s humanly possible to get the parks up and growing for the summer. The estimate on the Jan.27,´07 news is about $9 million just for Stanley Park.)

I'll see what I can do. My artist friend will have to fatten up the logo to make it look right on a shirt ...

I would buy a klarinet tee-shirt and be happy to add the extra cost on for a donation to the site.......worth a thought Mark. Would be great to wear it at clarifest 2007 - I am hopeful of getting there for the first time.

The process of getting the logo changed to be "printable" will start tomorrow. One of the readers of the BBoard has put me in touch with a professional screen print person, too.
When the shirts are ready I'll announce it here; I'm planning on selling for cost + handling + postage. Save the donations for donation time (like now - we're not doing all that well at the moment)

Ken, I think I have posted about that site before here though perhaps not as explicitly as you; and I sometimes cross-link threads between woodwind.org and violinist.com.
The last one was when someone asked about making a living as a musician and I linked the recent, extensive thread that was posted on this site. Interestingly, the original poster said that he couldn't read it all as it was too depressing.
The blogs are a very good idea: I occasionally blog on violinist.com.
Though not a musician myself, just through sheer luck, I happen to have kids who play the two instruments with the two (by far) most decent websites; the clarinet and the violin.
BTW, for another angle on a musical career, read this blog on the fellow violinist site

Mark -
For those of us in the "plus brigade," please have have a few shirts made in 2X, 3X, etc. sizes.
Anybody in favor of a Gear Acquisition Syndrome logo on the back?

Ken: For the GAS version of the shirt, I would need a KUD (Keyboard Use Denial) T-shirt . . . an extra long-sleeved one where I would cross my arms over my chest with the excess sleeve length wrapped around me and padlocked together behind my back. Eu
