Very sad to report the death of giant saxophonist Michael Brecker at age 57!

To me, he has the definitive tenor sound and the sound I aspire to making - his is the sound I have in mind when I think of tenor and when I play tenor.
Former oboe finisher
Howarth of London
1998 - 2010
The opinions I express are my own.

I am very saddened by this news. It is a tremendous loss. I began listening to his music and collecting his albums over 30 years ago, from his work with Dreams to the Brecker Brothers and on. I saw him countless times live. He was simply a brilliant musician. His influence is heard in nearly any saxophone player today. His harmonic vocabulary, command of the saxophone, inventiveness, technique, and the style that he brought to modern music is astounding. He will be missed.
