 trio music

two others in my band and myself want to play a clarinet trio piece, I have been designated the leader and are therefore responsible for music. I need something that is neither boring, easy, or extremely difficult. I would like something that has a really hard and strong lead part with some moderate melodic/difficult parts in the 2nd and 3rd. Any suggestions or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

I dearly love and recommend the Adagio by Mozart which is in "Clarinet Sessions" probably available in many places, and is thru Amazon.com. Its inexpensive and has quite a number of moderately challenging duets, trios etc.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up two Rubank clarinet trio books (easy and medium). I think there's probably an advanced as well. I was really pleased by the variety of music.

I don't know why you're doing this, but, two of my clarinet friends wanted to do that and I composed my own. It was fun. Maybe you could do that. I don't know if that will work for you, but it's an idea...

There are vast number of flute trios, which you can find and order from the Fluteworld.
http://www.fluteworld.com/
They denote difficulty level for information.
You can transfer the tunes for clarinets.
(If you use a software, transfer to any mode is very easy!)

Evan -

Beethoven wrote a terrific trio for 2 oboes and English horn. A version for 3 Bb clarinets is printed at the end of the Langenus method book, part 3. You will find the 1st part quite challenging in the last movement. The other 2 parts are not simple, but not as hard as the 1st part. All 3 players have to "play out."

Have fun.

My parents have recently bought me a new wooden clarinet. I live in the Phoenix area, where it is very dry. How often would you recommend oiling it? I would appreciate it if you would email as soon as possible and I thank you for your time! Thank you again!

This may sound strange. But it is a good ensemble technique.
If same instruments players play simultaneously, the 2nd,3rd,4th... players should try not to include smaller amount of harmonics in their tones to harmonize with the 1st player. So,if other players use Chadash or Moennig barrels,it may be better to let them use ordinary barrels.

I meant "not to include large(not small) amount of harmonics."
