Hi! Does anybody know where I can procure the score of Candide Overture arranged for a Wind Quintet? My recording's version says it's from Boosey and Hawkes but they replied that they don't publish it anymore.
Can anybody help?

A few years ago I heard the American Woodwind Quintet perform this live. Right before they performed the piece they gave a short speech as to how they got permission to do an arrangement of the piece. It seem that one of the quintet members met Bernstein in an elevator and asked him personally. So, there may be no published score to the piece. Or you can try and contact the office of the American Woodwind Quintet and see if they have had it published.
good luck

Check out the book "WIND CHAMBER MUSIC: An Annotated Guide" by Barbera Secrist-Schmedes published by Scarecrow Press (www.scarecrowpress.com). I don't currently have a copy or I'd look it up. You can find the book in most university libraries or order it from Scarecrow.
Hope that helps.

Kai,
You can email Craig Urquhart at Amberson. He can guide you in matters relating to all things Bernstein.

Hello:
The Bernstein Redbook indicates, simply, that arrangements/transcriptions for brass quintet, woodwind quintet and saxophone quintet are "in preparation." Perhaps you should contact them for more information:

So long.
