 Maintaning a clarinet
Author: Lis Mott

I was reading a previous post and it mentioned 'oiling keys' and I got to wondering about proper clarinet maintenance. How often should I have it looked at to make sure that it is still in good condition? The last time I owned a clarinet I was 14, so I never really gave it any thought. What are some things that I should keep in mind?

Thanks,

Lis Mott

Music stores here recommend an annual check-up, ie small service (replace the odd worn pad, clean and (sparingly) oil keys & bore, adjust as necessary). Probably depends on how often you are using your clarinet.
