Has anyone here ever purchased a clarinet (or other instrument) from MUSIC-123? They advertise really good prices, but there is the obvious problem buying mail order- service, setup, ....
Any other recommended mail order shops (such as "The Woodwind and Brasswind" shop).
Thanks,
Matt

I recently got my new R-13 from WW & BW, but I just live in NE Ohio which is only a 5 hour drive to South Bend, In. So my husband and I just took a day and went to the store. They are very well equipped with a lot of stock on hand and wonderful try-out rooms.
You can also order 3 instruments from them with 10% down, try them in your home for 2 weeks and send back the ones you don't want. Then you are only charged for the one you keep.
I will get service locally.

I bought a Buffet E-11 from Music 1-2-3 a couple of months ago. I could not be any happier. Their prices are fantastic, and they ship QUICKLY. I ordered my clarinet via computer on a Tuesday evening and my clarinet arrived in Richmond, VA that Thursday. The clarinet was well packaged and sustained no damage - it's playing great!
Good luck to you.

I bought a E-11 in december of 99. After a few days one of the pads on the lower joint fell off, it was not glued in as it should have been, a month later the lower joint ring became loose. I called m-123 on their 800 number and spoke to the person that took my order initially and he offered me 3 options, 1 -> return the unit for exchange, 2-> return the unit for repair, 3-> have the unit repaired locally and send them the bill for credit against my credit card. I had the horn repaired locally and sent them the bill, no problems.
The problem with the horn was due to poor quality control by Buffet and not music-123. the order takers for the most part are musicians between gigs or working days so the chances are good that you can talk to some one familiar with your instrument.
The service and the price was fantastic, shipping took one week to chicago and they give you tracking information so that you can track the shipping thru UPS, of course you need a computer to track the shipment.
They do precheck the horns out B4 shipping but the problems with my horn did not show up right away.
Check out my previous posts. In summary I was very pleased with the service and price.

What is Music-123's website or phone number? I usually order from WW&BW, because that is all I am familiar with. I would like to check out other options. Do they carry reeds, mouthpieces etc.?
Thanks, SusieQ

SusieQ - check in the Resources/Retail section here on Sneezy for more selections; I don't think I have 123's site yet, but I do have others that have pretty good reputations: Weiner's, IMS, Youffer's, Houston Band Inst., and more.
