Barrel not fitting on clarinet

This morning when I went into Jazz Band my barrel wasn't fitting on my clarinet. I assume this is because the change of temperature/ and or the fact that my case was left open last night. In North Carolina we've been having some crazy weather. It is suppose to be winter and yesterday it was in the low 60s, day before mid 50s, and by saturday we should reach the high 70s to low 80s. What can I do to help put the barrel on?

Seriously - where does it stop? Right at the tenon or only at the cork? If it's the wood, then presumably both the tenon and the barrel are swelled. See your tech. And, if it's doing this now, then it should act up like that in eg April or November too. So...did you have this phenomenon before?

Else it's only the cork and you might get away with a bit more cork grease than usual and proper swabbing (use paper towels for the tenons and sockets) after use.

Don't try to speed-dry the wood (heating, hair dryer etc) !

It starts at the tenon but once i get it past that it fits. I have to let it get used to room temperature and if needed blow through it. This hasn't ever happened before. I got this clarinet back in october. it was a demo clarinet. I can take it off but then when it gets to the point where the bottom of the barrel reaches the tenon it won't budge, i have to twist hard for it to come off. there will be a tech at my auditions saturday and maybe he can help me out with it. Thank's for the paper towel idea, I'll try that. It's not the cork by the way because I used another barrel from the same make and it fit just fine.
