Years and years ago, I studied with Gino and during this time he performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Boston Symphony Orchestra where he was Princicpal Clarinetist.
The performance was extraordinary. Cioffi not only had a gorgeous rather exceptional sound, extremely intimate , but a technic that was phenomenal .
Naturally,I attended the performance, which was special because he had creatred a cadenza that was nothing to do with Mozart but everything to do with his background, long, Cavallini-like, and for his students, thrilling.
Were you there?
I have received a question from a former student of his who is looking for a recording of that performqnce.
I do not have one,and wonder if perhaps someone out there may possess a copy.
The year may have been 1965-68, although he left the orchestra soon after.
Thank you.

Sherman -
The Clarinetist's Discography by Richard Gilbert lists a tape of this performance, presumably from an aircheck. It therefore probably exists, though finding it may be next to impossible.
I've spoken to Rich about several unusual items, and he's said that he doesn't actually have them but put them in the discography because he had heard about them, or they had appeared in a catalog. If you're lucky, this may be something he does have, though.
The contact information I have for him is obsolete. Perhaps someone on the board has a current address or phone number. I've sent to you privately the most recent phone number I have.
If you find it, I'd like a copy.

I studied with Peter Hadcock at Hartt for one year; 67-68.
I know he had an extensive collection of tapes and records.
If you can possibly get in touch with Aline Benoit, she may have knowledge of what you are looking for.
If you do locate it, like Ken, I'd like a copy too.
