Hello everyone,
Thanks so much for all that responded to my other post about the new clarinet. I'm still not sure what's up with that.
Anyway this question has to do with sheet music. Does anyone have suggestions for Klezmer-style for the Bb clarinet that comes with an accompaniment cd? Also a good classical music book(excerps). I'm trying to find some nice and varied selections to play as I'm breaking back in. I'm planning on purchasing for fun playing the Lord of the Rings music , Movie Insrumental Solos and a Contemporary Christian book then for skill building a Benny Goodman and Klose method book.
I'd appreciate any thoughts, especially concerning the Klezmer and/or classical music.
Squeeks and toots,
Sheri

Thanks for the great link! Have you tried any of these pieces with other instruments ?

If you count "humming voice" as an instrument, then yes.
Actually, I don't give a loud hoot about what instrument a piece was intended for. If it sounds fine on a flute, it will sound at least okay for clarinet etc. Just go ahead and try - there's not much to lose.

An excellet sourece for sheet music is Gary Van Cott. He is a sponsor of this site, and offers a huge collection of sheet music, books and recordings. He is also very knowledgeable, and his sservice is superb. I usually get things shipped to me in Detroit within hours of the time he receives the order in Nevada, and they arrive in ltwo days. You can't beat that kind of service.
Here is his site: http://www.vcisinc.com/

I have a great Klezmer book with Cd accompanyment called "Play Klezmer" which I got on the sheetmusicplus.com site. A great site for sheet music. Excellent service. The book comes in editions for different instruments.

I've got a really cool selection of unaccompanied clarinet solos by a chap called Gordon Lewin, entitled 'Clarinet Folk Weave'. Think it's published in the UK by the ABRSM. There's a selection of styles: jazz, klezmer, classical.
