Hey guys,
I was hearing some rumours of a new Buffet clarinet being introduced sometime next year. Anybody hve any idea if this is true and when it will come out?
Anyone know the date the Legacy's will become available?

Here's hoping it's a Tosca Eb...
Personally I'd be surprised if another new Buffet model appeared relatively close to the Tosca first appearing what, 3 years ago?

Yes, this is true, the new buffet model will be out pretty soon. There is no detailed information about it quite yet. But, I'm pretty sure, judging by your setup, you should get an R13.

possibly.... I find it hard to believe a clarinet would be released so close to the Tosca as well...
actually when did the festival comeout, AFAIK that was the newest model before tosca right?

I find it hard to believe Buffet would need to design another new model instrument with such a huge pro line of models to chose from. It would be better if they simply made what they have better...however, with the competition coming up with such excellent instruments they may be feeling pressure to come up with something better...
Selmer has increased its pro line and so have Leblanc so it seems natural that Buffet would want to find some kind of edge in this market. However, that being said I really think the R13 is the instrument they chose to concentrate on in terms of attention to quality..

Indeed the Festival was also as far as I know the last new model before the Tosca...but the Festival wasn't new, it had been around in near identical form as the DG.

I don't see it happening.
In the 50s-70s the R13 was the 'Top of the line professional clarinet'
In the 80s-90s - Professional Standard.
In the year 2000-up – entry level professional clarinet.

It is making me wonder whether or not Buffet is going to go for another step up line to compete with the Leblanc Cadenza....hmmm

But the Cadenza isn't really a step-up instrument, in terms of pricing OR quality. It's, if anything, more of an equivalent to the R13 (no offense to the Cadenza ), at nearly $2,000.
