what's everyones opinion on the new hydrocase from vandoren?
good or bad to stock the reeds in the plastic reedholder they came in in the box?!?
how well do they work and are they worth spending time and money on???

I think it's a gimmick personally... Better off just getting better reed holders that dont require the vandoen plastic case. The vandoren 8 reed case is really nice and same with the protec one.
Nice to see another RC player =D

I have been trying various reed holders the past few months, and I got a Vandoren hygrocase. It works as promised, but in my opinion, it's a bit of a hassle to constantly check, add water, etc. I'm having better luck with the Rico "reed vitalizer". It comes with a pre-set humidity packet, and I put my vandoren 8-reed holder case in the pouch, with plenty of room left over for more reeds in individual holders (or at least 2 Vandoren 8-reed cases). It has noticeably improved my reeds' performance and life - I highly recommend it. They also sell a reed "vault" that's hard rubber and would probably hold more reeds, but I like the pouch because it fits in a clarinet case. At the Midwest clinic, they were also showing an 8 reed case (very similar to the Vandoren) that had a spot for the humidifier packet - that will be very small and well worth checking out. It's on their website now, but won't be available until February.
