I am a junior high school that band director just came across Stormworks and the Steve Melilo ouvre. I have to say that it seems that this guy really has some good stuff. However, is it just me or is there something else going on there? His constant use of the term "Godspeed" and talk of the second and third milenium and such gives me pause. I teach in the public schools so the last thing I need is to be accused of is ignoring the church / state thing. Or am I crazy?
That being said, from what I have heard and checked out the music is different from the usual band fare. Any one have any experience playing, conducting, or hearing it that would care to share? Any recommendations for junior high school age students?
Thanks for your input.
Adam

I've played in 'godspeed'. As a band director, I assume that you play standard Xmas stuff, right? This should be no different.
For jr. high it's probably a good piece. Lots of big chords to work on pitch.
