Are Eb contra-alto reeds the same as contra-bass reeds? I bought this http://www.muncywinds.com/product.php?pr... and this http://www.muncywinds.com/product.php?pr... Are these what I want? Will they work for the Eb contra-alto clarinet? Even though the picture on the Vandoren reeds, isn't that a Bb contra-bass? I'm really confused about that too?
I know the Eb contra-alto isn't the same as the Bb contrabass. But when people say the contra-bass, do they mean the Bb contrabass? Or do they mean the Eb contra-alto? HAA. I'm so confused.
I've been playing the Bb clarinet for about 6 years, but I just started the Eb contra-alto clarinet a few months ago, so I don't really know the reeds and stuff as I do for the Bb clarinet.
I've been playing on Vandoren #3s. My friend, she's a music major, said that I should move up to the V12's. I saw online that Vandoren also has the 56 Rue Lepic. Would moving to the V12s or 56s help me? They may be better reeds, but would they really help me? Like as only being a sophomore, they may not sound any better with me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that with printers there are different resolutions that printers print at. You may buy the higher resolution printer, and it may print better than the lower one, but the difference is so little that you don't notice it without a magnifiying glass. Any opinions out there? Thanks.

Contra-alto mouthpieces and current BBb contrabass mouthpieces take the same reeds. Vandoren bass sax reeds fit mine quite well.
The old Leblanc mouthpieces were wider and need the Vandoren contrabass clarinet reeds. They won't fit on your Eb contra-alto mouthpiece.
On soprano clarinet, you should certainly try the V12 and the 56 rue Lepic, but you're the only judge of what works best.

Baritone sax reeds can also be used on EEb contra-alto clarinet, and they are much more widely available.
