They changed the formula of my favourite cork grease! Arrrgh!
Gone is the faint whiff of citrus fruit when I open the clarinet case, gone the amber colour. Now it's a dull white odourless paste. And I suspect it has a dulling influence on how I sound. Sigh.

I know someone with a LARGE tin of the good stuff!
But has it got the same consistency?
Back in the early '80s it was much thinner, more orange in colour and smelt like peardrops.

Do you have La Tromba slide and cork grease in the US?
I've been using it for years now, I know it's synthetic, but I've never had any troule with it - my bari sax still has it's original crook cork on which is still very supple (and still a good tight fit with my Lawton mouthpiece), and I've had that for sixteen and a half years.

Try muzzleloader lube. It's bright yellow and smells like citrus. Pretty slick too.

The best cork grease I know, outside of a formula given me byTom Ridenour is by Omar Henderson.I think he uses the eye of a newt. George Huba sent me a big tube of it and it is really excellent and stays and stays. Great stuff, get the large size, but George only had one.
best regards for the holidays,
