Yet more idle equipment curiosity, but, what's a Vandoren "2V" mouthpiece? I know what a Vandoren "2RV" is, but I'm unfamiliar with the specs/history of a "2V." It doesn't say Vito, or whatever. From what I've seen of Vandoren blanks, it's got the smaller, really slanted signature, and the 2V is to the right of the table at the shoulder. These seem to indicate in my experience an older blank, yet this one is all shiny and new.
Thanks.
Bill.

The 2RV is really the same as the 5RV...I am quite sure that the facing you have is probably pretty old though...is there not a Vandoren logo in the front of the mouthpiece??? According to Vandoren there are alot of fakes out there of Vandoren mouthpieces...where did you aquire this and maybe you could post a pic?

Thank you, David. I've attached a picture. Yes, it does say Vandoren on the back.
I always knew the 2RV was the "old" name for the 5RV and that they were identical. I've had some older 2RV's and they were nice. I guess I wasn't really paying attention when I acquired this one on the famous auction site, and I believed it to be a 2RV. But it's a 2V.
The blank looks so brand-new. Yet I don't see how it could be new. New old stock, maybe?
Bill.

It looks like it is in pristine shape...so it may be very good...it is what I would call quite old but unused!!! If it plays well and sounds good you may have quite a decent mouthpiece on your hands.
