Hi, I'm looking for someone who is expert at refacing clarinet and sax mouth pieces. I have a Chedeville and a few other old hard rubber mouth pieces in pretty good to excellent shape but some either need work or need to be looked at by an expert refacer. Anyone recommended? Thanks so much.

In Boston... I know of nobody. I've lived here for 7 years and have yet to find someone. I'd recommend you give Brad Behn a call as he'll do stuff for you by mail and do an excellent job. I've done this many times with Brad and always gotten good results.

There a handfull of people in NYC that do good work.
Jimmy Yan for clarinet. Mike Manning for sax and I think he does clarinet, too. It's not that inconvient from Boston- at least you could try it in person and not have to the snail mail waiting game.

You could try Bill Street - he's in Maine (that's in the boston area, no?). He makes excellent clarinet (I have one for my basset horn) and sax mouthpieces.
He's at the University of Maine, I believe.

Go to NYC, or ship to one of the familiar BBoard names (Behn, Hill,...)

Thanks very much for the advice. I will pursue one of the suggestions here, I'm in NYC quite a bit, having been Brooklyn born, or I will go with one of the other suggested experts. Best regards, Carol G.
I don't seem to know how to remove the second paragraph from this post. apologies. Thanks.

Unless you want to sit by the tech while s/he works on the mouthpiece --trying it out as your go, don't fear sending it to a good guy. I've had great interactions with Grabner, Behn, Livengood, Spiegelthal.

Who wouldn't prefer to sit down with the mouthpiece refacer and work out the issues on the spot? All you can do from a distance is say, "Nope, that doesn't work." or, "Yep, that's ok."

I am taking my whole wagon of treasures to visit Mr. Bill Street in Maine next week and we will see what he makes of it. I will very much enjoy paying him for his time, I will enjoy observing near the bench, at least while he examines the collection, so I will enjoy the best of all worlds. Thanks to those of you who have named so many outstanding talents. I'm sure the pros in your responses will benefit and so will others like myself who inquire about their services. This has been invaluable to me, my gratitude for all your input.
