What do u look out for when buying a mpc?

When purchasing a new mpc, what are some characteristic which u look out for? Which is more important? A mpc which has delivers a beautiful tone but has some intonation problems or one that plays in tune but lacks the full tone.

Is it true that most long open mpcs are susceptible to being flat at the throat regions and sharp at the extreme registers? Any suggestion for a good long open mouthpiece?

I would go for the one with the good tone, I may not have much about playing I'm still kinda a young player But isn't tone quality a clarinetist's main priorety? I was taught that you look for tone quality then you look forintonation and all the other stuff. But thats just my opinion, you might want to take the more experienced players point of view!

If you find one that has good tone quality but poor intonation, pass it. If you find one with good intonation but poor tone, pass it. Keep looking until you find one that gives you both. IMHO a quality mpc doesn't sacrifice either tone or intonation. What is the purpose of playing with good tone but constantly being out of tune with everyone around you or vice-versa? Both are extremely important, fortunately good tone is something that is aquired by much painstaking practice. Intonation will always be a concern, no mpc will allow you to play perfectly in tune, too bad though :-) SMile, it's contagious

A proper intonation is indispensble.(This is very much true especially of Soprano sax mouthpieces.)

By the way, testing a mouthpiece with a reed used for another mouthpiece and judging its tone is very questionable. They are tamed with the old one.
