 "cold vs warm air"

I have read somewhere that if one allows the middle of the tongue to lower with the back of the tongue as you ascend you lose control and tone of the higher notes.

One of the correctives mentioned is play with "cold not warm, air."

Can any one say what he means by "cold air not warm air?"
