 Long Tones and Embouchure

Agree or disagree:

Playing slow ballads with lots of long tones and few rests is more demanding and tiring on the embouchure than playing fast technical passages.

Yes. Even more tiring is the combination of fast technical passages, and long tones with few rests.

I agree.. Anyone ever played the Saint-Saens? The third movement is a pretty good example of this.. Playing for quite a few measures in a row in the chalameau register at forte... Then you get an 8 bar break to rest.. Then you play the entire passage again in the upper register at pianissimo.
