For next years all state solo festival, I will be playing Concerto in A major, transposed to Bb major. This is for clarinet and piano. In measure 300 there is a LOW LOW c, my clarinet along with any other model cannot possibly get that low. Is it a misprint, should it realy be LOW E????!???
Please Help me if you can!!!!!!!!!!

What edition of K.622 are you using? It appears as if you have one for basset clarinet.

Buffet B-flat bass clarinets (a special model) can also go down to C. So it could be for that?

According to some historical documents, this piece was conceived but not completed for a different member of the clarinet family. When Mozart then completed this piece, his composition was for a special soprano clarinet in A built for Anton Stadler that extended to the low C. Today people striving for authenticity will play this piece on the basset clarinet (a modern soprano in A that is extended to low C).
The version of the concerto that I have shows the low C occuring in both the 1st and 3rd movements in the clarint part itself. However, the clarinet staff in the piano score shows an E for the one occuring in the first movement. Since the normal clarinet does not go to the low C, it makes sense to play another note in the chord. For the third movement, the short section containing the low C is normally played an octave higher (and is printed that way in many editions).
So in a nutshell, the low C's are "correct" but you can't play them on a "normal" clarinet. This shows up on various recordings. There are quite a few played on a standard instrument that make the compromises described here or similar compromises. Then of course there are the ones made using the basset clarinet (this has become more popular in the last decade).
