If anyone is interested there's another Sabine
Meyer video on Youtube.com

It's a movement from the Weber quintet.
You'll be delighted or outraged!?

Delighted.
Notice how straight she maintains her back, bending at the hip joint, not at the thorax.
Nice clear sound.

And that articulation! I would pay immeasurable sums of money to see her and Robert Spring give a duo recital. *swoons at the very thought*

So much better than that dreadful Mozart clip posted some time back. Nice playing, although the tempo is too fast, IMO. A tempo that fast will make the last movement sound kind of slow and boring.

At least she plays Weber - I´ll never understand why he is valued so much less than the Salzburgian lipoidisms...And performers shouldn´t move around so much, all that showing off is utterly unnecessary. (There are moments when such is the case, though, but this is like the heavy´s headbanging et cetera...). /But there, on this "youtube"-site, there are some fantastic videoclips, like those from the very beginning of clarinet-playing, perfect reminders.

This is the encore piece that followed the Mozart Quintet. One of Korean fellow amateur clarinetists kindly sent me this video. Ever since I watched it, I simply fell in love with Sabine Meyer. Even her clothes. Isn't she gorgeous in that color? Standing out from the five.

WOW, I wish I could get through that movement of the Weber so quickly!

Only two more weeks and I get to see her play three different programs in Gstaad. Thanks for the clip link, god I can't wait.

Her brother Wolfgang Meyer is much better and I can't understand why when they play together on a cd she's on the front cover and he's on the back cover like on the cd with Weber and Baermann quintets and the Mendelsshon concertpieces.

"And performers shouldn´t move around so much, all that showing off is utterly unnecessary."

It is not always showing off, sometimes moving, even a lot, is completely natural for the player. I think players shold do everything as naturally for them as possible, and not limit themselves based on how it some people will look at it.

"Her brother Wolfgang Meyer is much better and I can't understand why when they play together on a cd she's on the front cover and he's on the back cover like on the cd with Weber and Baermann quintets and the Mendelsshon concertpieces."

I personally don't think "Wolfgang Meyer is much better" I think they areboth excellent. But just a gues, I think she is on the front cover because she is more famous, and also a picture of a woman might get overall more attention.

Was more amazed by the size of the audience. The hall was packed. The playing was great, typically German though.

Their choice of seating is interesting - 5 stools and piano benches. Not a seat back in sight.

That is one of my favorite pieces of music (there you go GBK). She performed it well, but I have this CD with the same piece, and I like it much more. I was kind of shocked when I first heard it, because i recognized it right away. In fact, i picked it up a few months ago and tried to learn it...doubt i could play it well that fast though. :)

Re the clothes! When I first saw it, I think whay she is wearing is a certain kind of Indian dress (called churidars). If it is not, then certainly the designer seem to have been inspired by one!!

Besides using the proper terminology in your writing and speaking, others, whether they be teachers, professors or musical colleagues, will often judge you by your musical vocabulary.

It's never too early to learn and use the correct words when describing musical passages ...GBK

Typically German can be classed in terms of sound. Her sound was 'pure'. This is a typically German trait due to the bore of the instrument and reed setup etc. It is neither a positive or negative comment.

I love Sabine Meyer... although when she came to my city I was very dissapointed, she played some contemporary pieces that did not suite her (or that's what I thought, I was only 12 or so. For you to know, I'm now 14 ;) ) but in this video she's incredible!! Thanks for posting :)
