I am looking for a good beginner's book that has information on how to use a reed knives, trimmers, resurfacing, etc. My daughter would like to learn how she can get more out of a box of reeds. I am also looking for recommendations on equipment such as reed knives (brands) or Vandoren Glass reed resurfacer, Reed Wizard, etc. and your experience with any of these products. Thanks for your help!

I think you shold get the ATG reed system. It uses sand paper only and comes with a dvd to show you exactly how to work on the reeds. I use the ATG system and the reed wizard and that is usually enough to get great reeds in a short amount of time. Reed Knives are good but you must be very skilled to use them which takes time and a lot of recked reeds. You also need a stone to keep the knife sharp. Nothing is worse for a reed than using a dull reed knife. Check out Riddenours ATG system. You can find it on Woodwind and Brasswind, Music 123, Weiner Music etc.
