 New Barrel

Hello I'm thinking of buying a new 68 mm barrel for my Bb R13. Are 68 mm readily availiable? has anyone here bought one before? What are the best types availiable? Are there certain kinds of barrels that don't mix with certain kinds of clarinets? Any help would be appreciated

I use a 68 Moennig barrel for my R13. I got it to compensate for the fact that Vandoren's traditional mouthpieces are tuned to A=444. Woodwind Brasswind's website (wwbw.com) has them readily available.

I would suggest looking at Clark W. Fobes barells. I have one and it works wonders. Also take a gander at Backun barrels. They are a little bit pricier, but are supposedly amazing. Happy hunting.

There are original Buffet RC/13 barrels also available in different lengths. I suppose there is a reason. They are also more reasonbly priced here in Spain than all the others recommended often on this board (like the Backun ones mentioned).

Unfortunately, for the moment I can't afford them, but if you have access to those, you should certainly at least try them.

I use a 67mm Clark W. Fobes barrel on Bb, which I have to pull out to get in tune to A=440. That might be an option. The barrel is great, it really adds some center to the sound that is not present with the stock barrel. I've been meaning to get one for the A clarinet, too.
