 question on older Artley 17S

We are renting a Selmer Aristocrat, while looking for a good student clarinet for our small 9 yr old. The "2" reeds are still a little tough for her to blow through, so we got some 1.5 reeds to help her along.

Anyways, I've been told to watch out for "pot metal" on the Artley 17S?

Anything else to look for?

Also, any suggestions on a new mouthpiece? What to look for for a very small child, and fair price to pay? Thanks.

Pot metal Artleys?

All the Artley 17S clarinets I've seen have nickel plated solid nickel silver keys (I've never seen any Artleys with die cast mazak keys), though they aren't exactly works of art in the way the key parts are all soldered together (or the shapes of the key pieces), but the clarinets do play and sound very well if properly set up.
