How to clean bell on Alto?

My daughter is playing Alto Clarinet for Woodwind Choir this year, the school loaned her one & there are a few things which need repaired, pads & a key sticking. The bell has green corrosion in it (yuck) would toothpaste be alright to use? Or does anyone know of a better product to get the green to go away?

Pam/Rosie, I like your "quote". I think I'd take off the low Eb pad, dampen and towel dry it, the [prob.] leather pad, to remove "stick". Then I'd wash out the bell with warm soapy water, trying to keep the pad spring as dry as possible. A mild brushing might be needed. I haven't done this as most metal bells I've cleaned needed only wetting-drying, perhaps a few drops of charcoal fire starter fluid to "de-oil" spots. A mild approach, Don
