Virginian Clarinet

Back during WWII, my mother bought me a used silver clarinet from one of the early members of the Cleveland Orchestra. I have searched the web and have not been able to find out anything about it. The bell says "The Virginian" and at the top is what appears to be a serial number C 5353. These are the only markings I can find on either the clarinet or the case. Is there anyone out there who can offer any info on this clarinet such as who made it, when, or any other info?

Hi Everett2 - Our "resident expert" on metal cls is Jim Lande, who has put into our archives [SEARCH {above}] a "laundry list" of metals which he owns/knows-about. I emphasized METAL to possibly attract his attention for you, and suggest you make a Search. Many "silver" cls were made and were given a wide variety of names ! Others. pliz help, Luck, Don

Thanks for the note. I've already searched through all of the boards. The only hit was Jim Lande's eBay results. He mentions a "Virginian" selling for $31 but other than it saying "student" after it, no other info is provided.
