I am in the middle of applying for the Fulbright and Rotary Scholarships this summer. The Rotary Scholarship requires that I choose five schools abroad to apply to, and no more than two of those schools can be in one country. I am mainly looking for teachers in German speaking countries. Does anyone have a recommendations of good teachers in Germany, Austria or Switzerland?
Thanks!
Shannon

Dear Shannon:
I know of an excellent and well-known clarinetist in Koln, Germany: David Smeyers. His email address is:
beatedave@aol.com
He and his wife , Beate, are "Das Klarinetten Duo". They've made many CD's and David has about ten CD's to his credit and has done concertizing throughout Germany and France. I think his teachers include myself, Mohler, DePeyer, Lancelot and probably a few others. While he has made a name for himself as a performer of avant-garde clarinet literature, he's also won prizes in the "traditional". Hope this helps. Sincerely, Earl
