 Clarinet Reed Seal
Author: Harold Lee

i heard that if there's a leak on the clarinet reed...it can be sealed by using an oil like olive oil..is this true?....because my reeds are a bit warped and in some parts they don't stick to the mouthpiece...i don't want to get rid of them....when they're the right shape..they sound superb....

I'd say you are not storing your reeds on a flat surface - or that you are playing them when they are not fully wet - or both of these.

I have tried a reed oil/sealant sold by BW/WW and it seemed to work, but it was just another gimmick and I have enough of them already. I suspect something as thick as olive oil would lessen the vibration potential of a reed. But that's a guess.
