Hello all again. well i have a question about the mozart song. it has a lot of slurs that are difficult to play with normal fingering but a little easier to play with alternate style. so which is correct though? alternate or normal?

The case being that this is an opera aria for bass voice, I can only assume you are playing a transcription. I do know of one in a begining book of solos, so perhaps you are playing this one or one similar. It is virtually impoosible to guess which slurs you are talking about. Maybe you can be specific and tell what the notes are. Are you saying that there are slurs that go into the clarion and that alternate fingerings, i.e. trill fingerings, are easier? If so, use the real fingerings even though they are more difficult.

Sorry i thought everone was really familiar with this song. ok the book i'm working out of is called (solo pieces for the beginning clarinetist). i think it's on 8 notes to. one of the slurrs is thrid line B to fourth space C and second space A with C and A being 8th notes bared. that is one of many similar that is difficult to slurr using normal fingering.

Use the regular fingerings and it will only be hard for you for a while. Use the trill keys and it will be hard forever. Keep working; the difficulty that you are having is normal and can be overcome. That is a great book, BTW.
