Has anyone tried Brancher reeds and/or Rigotti reeds that are sold in the The Woodwind Catalog? How do they compare to Vandorens in strength - #4?

Alex, I haven't tried these reeds, but the Reed Strength Comparison Chart that I have shows Brancher as just slightly under the Vandorens in strength. For instance it looks like the Brancher #3 would be about a 2.85 Vandoren. The Rigotti isn't listed. Michael

Sorry Alex, I didn't read your question thoroughly. The chart does show that when you get to the #4 and #5 reed strengths, the Vandorens and Branchers are the same. I forget to look at the numbers that high because I'm still down in the 2's and 2 1/2's!! Michael

I ordered Rigotti reeds for Alto and Soprano Saxes.
1.Rigotti strength is more precise than Vandoren like 3-hard,3-medium,3-soft. This system is described in wwandbw catalogue.
2.You had better a small number of boxes at first and choose what strength is the best for you refering to reed strength comparison chart. This is since Vandoren's strength has some deviations even for a specific strength.
This is what they say.
3.It takes very long period for you to receive reeds from them. Veryyyyyyyy long. Provably they will come when you forget. But this is not a faulty handling of wwandbw.
4.I think their quality is good.

Alex;
I've been using the Rigiotti reeds for a little over 2 months now. It appears to me that the V12s are about a 1/2 strength stronger than the Rigiottis.
i.e. V12 #3 = Rigiotti # 3 1/2 medium
Appearantly Rigiotti's deliveries to WW&BW leave a lot to be desired. I had to wait well over 2 months to recieve the Rigiotti #3 1/2Mediums. The Rigiotti reeds are quite consistant as to strength. And they last about as long as the V12s. I'd buy them again if they were in stock.
Cheers,
Paul

I have been using the Brancher reeds for about one month now, number 4, and I love them.
This may not be a fair comment however due to my teacher showing me how to tweak reeds. I now have a full box of great reeds. I tried the same tricks with a Vandoren, and improved them a great deal as well. I guess I will need more time with them, but these are my first impressions.
