 mouthpiece cleaning

I seem to have some kind of calcifying in my mouthpiece (lime perhaps) there is a lot of that in the water here. Is there a good solution (pardon the pun) for removing this without scaring the mouthpiece itself? I know the best thing is to not let this happen in the first place, but.....

We've had MANY threads about cleaning mouthpieces.
