Bleaching Hard Rubber

A while back there was a discussion going about whether or not it was safe to bleach hard rubber clarinets because it might cause damage to the metal springs.

I have bleached 2 mouthpieces that were discolored by putting them in a solution of about half water and half bleach. It only took about 5 minutes and they were back to black again. I don't know how long they will stay black, but it worked great and I am grateful for the suggestion.

My question is: Has anyone tried using a Q-Tip and bleach and bleached into the areas where the posts, etc., are with a Q-tip? Being rubber, you can just rinse the clarinet well and then it shouldn't damage the metal springs or the pads. With the rest, you could just use a cottom swab and bleach. Right now, I don't have a discolored clarinet that I can try that on, but I would be curious to see if it works or not.
