 Articulation

I have been working on my tongueing technique since the last time I posted about my problem with anchor tongueing. I can tell the difference between how I used to play, and how I play now, but I'm still kind of slow and studdering. Does it take a while to switch over? Sometimes I do fine, sometimes I go too fast, and sometimes I just can't get fast enough. When I really need to, I go back to anchor tongueing for fast sections, but I want articualte uniformly the correct way. How much time does this take?

It just takes practice! Keep on practicing, making mistakes, and one day you will find that you don't have any tongueing problems anymore.

It's just like me with my dreadful rhythm problem. I've had this problem forever, but I am improving. As with your tongueing, you will improve. Don't be frustrated. Go by how much you improve. It's improvement that matters the most.

I also had a tounging problem last year so I know exactly what you are going through. I felt that I went through a few stages. In my first stage I could barley use the new tounging and still prefered the old tounging. I then progressed to use the new tounging for slower sections but still used the old tounging for faster sections. There was then a short period where my tounge basically went on strike and I couldn't tounge anything right (a very short time so don't stress!). After that I slowly weeded out my old tounging and used nothing but the new tounging. I can't even remember how I used to toung anymore. The process was kinda long and took a lot of tounging excercises to get over. I would say it took me about 4 months to be able to tounge as fast the new way as I did the old way when before I switched (is this making any sense?), but my tounging change was drastic so it probably wont take you that long. Just keep working at it and it will eventually become like second nature to you. Good Luck :)
