 Hand - Select?

I was just curious --- Do you think Vandoren Hand Select (Clarinet) reeds are worth the expense over regular Vandoren(Clarinet) reeds? (Where I live, a box of Hand Select reeds cost about $27 and a box of regular Vandoren reeds cost about $13 from a catalog.) Thanx ~bill

My guess is that two boxes of regular reeds at $26 would give you at least as many usable reeds as one box of hand select reeds at $27. The select reeds are more carefully matched for strength and consistency, which means that if the first is good (or bad), they all will be much the same.

I used them until about 15 years ago.
It was very good. Looking them through light, there were only fine fibers not like many dark(means not completely dry inside) and thick fibers(means bad parts of the canes) I usually find today even in hand select.

MARCA superial is far better now and they are reasonably priced.
