From my experience, they don't really make sure everything is working on instruments, but they have a very good service. Did you try explaining them any of those problems? Although some of the clarinets I tried there had problems, when I had my barrel crack, and it was after the warrenty expired, they sent me a new barrel for free. Also, because I live so far away (about 15 hours by airplane) they agreed to refund me for repairs done here during the warrenty.
Imho the small problems with instruments are nothing considering their huge selection and excellent service. It was a very nice change comparing with the norm where I live - monopoly on brands, high prices, bad service, and problems with instruments.
