Hi! Vito offers his begginer clarinet with or without bell ring. What is the difference? What is the use of this bell ring? Thank you!

The bell ring prevents the bell from chipping or cracking when accidentally dropped or otherwise mishandled. It is an important part of the instrument expecially on wooden clarinets since the bell is made of very thin wood. On a resonite instrument it is not of particular importance except it probably does help prevent chipping etc of the resonite when handled improperly by you clarinet players.

The difference is about $25.00, and that model doesn't have a super high gloss finish so it looks a little more "traditional". They also make one that comes in COLORS! Like red and blue, wow! What next? Well, those Vito clarinets are sturdily made and they blow pretty easy, and they don't sound bad when set up with a good mouthpiece.

hmmm... nice thought...kep from chipingthe bell.. maybe that is why I still have mine after 30 plus years...
too bad they didnt have somethin like that for the tenen haha, that one cost me about $ 75.00 back in early 70's...
as far as I know, that is about the only reason.... worked greay in marching band... have seen several cracked bells...
( plastic horns... )

It keeps the beel from chipping also keeps the shape of the wood. Wood tends to expand and contract, so it may get warped.

It looks nice - in my opinion. As mentioned above, it costs a little more. Vito horns are pretty sturdily made so the ring may just give the bell a little better chance of surviving an accidental chip if it gets bumped against a hard surface like a music stand or folding chair.

I won't argue over any stuctural integrety added by the ring on a plastic bell, but it sure LOOKS a heck of lot better with that ring.

I've seen a number of chipped plastic bells that did not have a ring. I've never seen a plastic bell that had a ring and was chipped, though I suspect there have to be a few out there.
