Hi all, I'm planning to record my recital this year and would like to know what type of recording equipment you would recommend as I plan to use this recital as a future audition tape/cd. I'm thinking of getting a miniDV camcorder. I know that some schools only accepts cds, dvds, or tapes. What format would you record this in? Let me know what your thoughts are on this.

If it's a digital format, and you're just using it for auditions, then the medium is not really critical, since you should be transferring it to computer for editing.

What you need to look out for is manual recording level controls, which most consumer recorders lack, and good mics (not to mention good mic placement!)

My best suggestion is to HIRE SOMEONE ELSE to to the recording, so you can focus on playing.
