Curious if there are any other clarinetists playing a Selmer Signet Soloist. I'm curious what mouthpiece you are using with it. I am currently using a Selmer HS*, but want to try something different. I've tried the HS** and the Vandoren B45, but neither seems to be as flexible, in terms of reed selection, as the HS*.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Gerry,
I have a Selmer Signet Soloist also, and still use the factory supplied Selmer HS* mp, although I had it refaced to open up the aperature.
Interestingly, I use this mouthpiece with several other Bb instruments, this particular HS* is my primary mp, while the Soloist is a backup instrument (primary horn is a Selmer Paris series 10S). I believe there is very little "matching" necessary for mp to instrument, while the "matching" for mp to player is 1000X more significant.

HI!
Try a Selmer C85 105. I started using this mouthpiece on my selmer signet and still use it today on my buffet R13. Reeds and intonation have been no problem.

Same with me... I used *and still do* the Bay when I was playing in the Series 10G, and it did superb... if you have the bucks for the Bay, I'd say that would be a good investment forever. He has several mouthpeices in all price ranges, and they are all great, at least the ones that I've tried. He lets you try them out, and he also sent me a bunch of other equipment to try when I bought my moutpiece from him-eg berrels, ligs ect... Anyhoo... go to www.baywoodwind.com and check him out. Good luck!

I've had my Soloist for two months and I *love* it. The man who sold it to me said the mouthpiece was an HS* -- but those letters don't appear on it. Enscribed on it are "steel ebonite" and G8 -- haven't a clue what that makes this MP, but I really like it. It also sounds great on my Evette-Schaeffer.
