Hi,
I recently bought a Bb Bass Clarinet. The Make of my Clarinet is:
EVETTE & SCHAEFFER
PARIS
FRANCE
MODELE BUFFET-CRAMPON
The Clarinet goes down to Eb and has a Selmer C mouth piece.
The Problem i am having is, the Serial Number is: 4644, but i have been told that the serial numbers don't go this low!!! Can anyone tell me anything about this Bass Clarinet, becuase i have no idea of where or how to find out!!!
Any help or suggestings would be great!
Regards
Stephen

Stephen-
Is the number the same on both the top and bottom sections? I've heard of some brands that have the complete serial number on one section, but just the last digits on the other.
I don't think you have a problem unless it turns out the two numbers are completely different. At any rate, you have a good instrument. Check the sections below to see if Buffet serial numbers are available. It could be that your instrument is living proof that the numbers do go that low!

I agree with Fred's advice, your B C would likely be described as an "Intermediate" in the Buffet line of cl's, good quality [not as expensive as a pro model]. I am unfamiliar with B's ser. no's, but having a Selmer with a replaced lower joint of later series, I have found no intonation problems at all, best B C I have ever owned!! Don

IF you are still confused just call buffets north american wearhouse. They are listed in the resource section.
They have helped me out with some strange serial #s.
