Student with 'attached' tongue

I have a high school sophomore who has some tonguing difficulty in which this might be a factor. Her tongue is apparently attached more closely to the jaw area than normal in the forward part of her mouth. At the same time, she is a little hesitant and not physically aggressive enough in execution--so the tongue thing may be masking this situation. Again, no luck in the archives. Any opinions?

Maybe she might consider an instrument that requires less finesse, less attention to detail and is more disruptive in an orchestral setting ... like the trumpet for example.

But seriously ... if it does affect her playing she probably needs to seek expert help or consider her options.
