I just saw (and tried) something very interesting today. Ricardo Morales recently switched his allegence from Buffet to Selmer(I am told)and Ricardo sold his buffet clarinets.
Consequently, Pascal Veraquin (in Montreal)now has on sales a fabulous pair of Buffet Greenline Prestige extensively reworked as per the requirements of Ricardo. I understand that essentially the whole clarinet has been tweeked. The most visible enhancement is a new venting tone hole (with a new key) used for low F that fix intonation and color problems in this area.
I tried them today. They work ** almost ** as well as my Rossi's for half the price (around $6500 CDN for the pair).
It is interesting to see how much better our standard instruments can be made to play when fine-tuned by a master technician.

Mario,
Last I checked Ricardo was using Festivals (last summer). He had switched from Leblanc to R13s to Festivals. Be interesting if he switched to Selmer - at some point he'll start losing endorsement money ...

Mario, are you sure it is a pair of prestige not festival?
are they still on sale? do you know who is the technician
re-work the instrument. My co-worker has shown great
interest in these clarinets.
can you give me some contact information?
thanks
Jack

At the risk of having this post taken off the thread because it verges on the commercial...
Pascal Veraquin in Montreal (514-528-9974) currently has the instruments. I am not clear how he got them. However, Francois Kloc appears to be the technician involved in these changes (the addition of a new vent key for chalumeau F with a nice linking mechanism to the standard keywork is something only a manufacturer can do properly).
The best thing would be to call Pascal and have a chat with him.
Fine instruments indeed, and well priced.

He may be playing Selmer's now, because I understand that Selmer has been giving away sets of Signatures to many top orchestral players. Maybe someone should ask him (I think he has an email address listed under the teachers section of this website).
PS - I wish Selmer would give me a set of Signatures! I'd be happy to endorse them.
