 Termites and the Clarinet
Author: Morrigan

G'day everyone!

I've just moved into a house that seems to have a little termite problem (I'm renting. Luckily!).

Are they any threat to my clarinets?

Cheers.

I had termite problems last year, they had more interest in my bookshelf rather than the clarinet standing beside it. I think it'll be okay if you keep the clarinet in its case.

That would be disgusting to be playing and have termites in your horn.

Yuck.

Morrigan .... you make me laugh.

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Haha why do I make you laugh?

Anyway, there's this built-in bookshelf in my room and yeah, they seem to be very interested in that. Perhaps it's more dangerous to put my clarinets ON the shelf in case it collapses one day!

Some years ago the Toronto newspaper reported on a couple who came home to find their refrigerator missing.... and immediately assumed that it had been stolen.
But it was in the basement. Termites had eaten away the floor joists and the critical weakness point had been reached.
If I were you, Morrigan, I would be more concerned about waking up a floor below than about termites dining on my clarinet.

The only termite joke I know:

A termite walks into the local pub, sits down and asks, "Is the bar tender here?

LMFAO @ GBK

And Morrigan, to be correct technically we call 'em white ants (not termites, the sepos call 'em termites).

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.
